Sign up today with your friends, family or co-workers. Below are volunteer job descriptions. A great way to be part of this wonderful holiday tradition!

Volunteers are needed until conclusion of the parade.

Balloon Handlers

Adults 18 years old and older maybe be part of a team of 10-34 individuals. Bring gloves to protect your hands. Training will be provided the day of the event. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Banner & Sign Carriers

Teams of 2 carry banners. Identification signs are carried by individuals wearing elf costumes (costumes provided).

Note: Parents and children could volunteer here as a team of banner carriers. Requirement: Must be 10 years old and older and able to walk 1 mile.

Logistics Team

Special training provided by parade director the week prior to parade.

Staging - help with set up and placement of units
Street Marshals - help with flow of parade, report problems
De-staging - help deflate balloons, collect banners

Registration Team

Help to pre-register volunteers by telephone prior to parade. On parade day, confirm assignments, distribute t-shirts and refreshments.

Note:

  • The Oakland Holiday Parade takes place RAIN or SHINE.
  • All volunteers must wear black pants. Volunteer sweatshirts will be provided for a uniform look down the parade route.
